A random selection of some of my favourite quotes with simple, accompanying notes from me. I hope they will inform, make you think and help. My own quotes will be published in pocket-book format in November. Somehow delving into these inspire me and guide me. One a day or one a week will do. Memorise, then live it.
‘For kindness has the power to transform sworn enemies into firm friends.’ Rumi
I believe in this approach as a first step in negotiation when the other person has lost the plot and is bawling you out. You can even try it on Internet trolls. If they have any heart they will respond positively.
‘Life is a game of hide and seek in which we lose yourselves to find ourselves.’ Deepak Chopra
Sometimes we feel lost, like we don’t have a clue where we’re headed. And then it all comes together later on. It’s the waiting in between that is difficult. Don’t lose faith.
‘For tomorrow’s sake, don’t skimp with me on wine today; A stingy portion implies a suspicion of heaven’s abundance.’ Ghalib
There is a sacred interpretation of this too but for a bit of fun let’s stick with the literal! Pour another glass now and again.
‘The strong must serve the weak. Otherwise for what is his strength needed?’ Buddha
Of course we must help the less better off and it’s not all about money. It can be that they need our time, attention, compassion and any form of thoughtfulness. Sometimes others do not help us, not because they are mean but because they may not have the energy at that particular moment.
